War on ferals

projects war on ferals darrenandpig_measuring_200wFeral pigs, as well as feral cats and foxes, have become high priority pests because of the damage they cause to agricultural production and the environment.

In fact, local governments in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin consistently identify feral pigs as a high priority pest animal due to the on-going environmental and production impacts they have.

So, in early 2004, QMDC began a long-term project to control and reduce feral pigs, and assess their environmental and economic impacts.

projects war on ferals darrenandpig_recording_100wIn partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, this project will work with landholders and local governments over the next five years to better coordinate feral pig control methods and efforts.
