Grain and Graze
Grain and Graze is a national research, development and extension program aimed at achieving profit through knowledge.
The project is working to integrate the knowledge and experience of farmers, researchers, extension personnel and agribusiness providers with an aim to move towards financial, social and environmental sustainability for agriculture in the Border Rivers.
The program began back in 2005 with the central research question:
"Is the introduction of a short or long term grazing phase in cropping systems in the Border Rivers catchment profitable and environmentally, financially and socially sustainable?"
For more information, please go to the Border Rivers Grain and Graze website.
The Border Rivers and Maranoa-Balonne Grain and Graze projects have been a partnership between the national Grain and Graze partners, the Queensland Murray-Darling Committee, the Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA, the Queensland and New South Wales Departments of Primary Industries, CSIRO, the University of New England and the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Water.
The national Grain and Graze partners include Land and Water Australia (LWA), Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).
