Property Planning

This is a hands-on property management program designed for senior secondary students. The program includes resources and support for teachers and a field trip to a commercial property.

Students are guided through the process of developing a working property management plan. Students are required to consider natural resource management, environmental, cultural heritage and primary production issues. Property Planning 2008

Overview of School Involvement

1. Schools register inteInvestigating biodiversityrest in participating in program in Term 1.

2. Teachers will be sent material on the selected property, NRM issues and the property planning process at the beginning of Term 2.

3. Students will complete some material prior to field trip.

4. Field trip: Students rotate around the property looking at various property management issues under the guidance of QMDC staff. E.g. Weeds, water quality, biodiversity, soil health, cultural heritage.

5. Students form property management plans back at school for judging by QMDC staff.
