Landcare Discovery Centre

The Landcare Discovery Centre in our Toowoomba Office houses a resource library and a range of products for sale.

Products for Sale

The Landcare Discovery Centre stocks a variety of books including identifcation guides and children's picture and activity books. You will also find a range of kits such as weather stations and soft toy and gift items.

Products include:

Freda Frog's Pond is a delightful, educational picture book. Children will love the colourful collages that illustrate this story of two frogs. The book also includes a frog cut out activity so children can make their own frog.

Library Resources

The resource library is open to schools and the wider public and contains a variety of kits, models, books, videos/DVDs and posters. Our offices located in Goondiwindi and Roma also house a smaller selection of resources. Library resources are free to borrow. If you are not able to make it into one of our offices we can arrange to have the items sent to you. For more information on our resource collection please call Renee (4637 6220).

The Biodiversity Kit contains equipment which will allow students to capture and study insects and other invertebrates and conduct biodiversity surveys. The Biodiversity Kit includes items such as:

Bird Observer's Kit

The Bird Observer's Kit provides users with the necessary equipment to conduct bird surveys. Birds are not the only thing binoculars are useful for watching, trees and other wildlife can also be interesting to study with binoculars. The Bird Observers Kit includes:

● 10 Binoculars
● Field guides
● Survey charts

Macro-invertebrate Kit

Macro-invertebrate Kit The Macro- invertebrate Kit is used to investigate water dwelling insects and bugs and can provide an indication of waterway health. The Macro -invertebrate Kit includes items such as:

● Dip nets
● Bug sorting trays and observation jars
● Magnifying equipment
● Bug identification information

Water Quality Monitoring Kit

Water Quality Kit The Water Quality Monitoring Kit allows you to conduct a variety of tests to determine the health of your waterway. The Water Quality Monitoring Kit includes:

● Information booklet and cards
● pH probe
● Electrical Conductivity probe
● Turbidity tube
● Adults and high school students can also access inserts to the kit such as nutrient test kits and a dissolved oxygen kit
