QMDC's Rangers keen to work with land managers
Helping clear exotic weeds, erecting fences to protect fragile environments and preserving sites of cultural significance are just some of the projects QMDC’s Aboriginal Rangers are hoping to work on this year. Late in 2009, the Queensland Murray-Darling Committee (QMDC) started its exciting Ranger program and with depots now established in Inglewood, Dirranbandi and St George, the team is keen to start on-ground works. Click here for more details or contact QMDC Ranger Coordinator Charlie Waters on 0400 455 048.
Land for Wildlife Plus funding opportunities
Are you a Land for Wildlife landholder? If so, the Queensland Murray-Darling Committee, through Land for Wildlife, is offering financial help to progress nature conservation on-ground projects. QMDC will assist landholders registered with this program to improve their management and protection of Priority Ecosystems and Species. Click here for more information about the funding and Land for Wildlife.
Birds of the Maranoa book
Hot off the presses, this book is just $20 and is currently available from QMDC’s Roma and Toowoomba offices and many of the region's Landcare offices. Endangered regrowth vegetation and mining policy
Members of the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin with an interest in natural resource management for their business, catchment or community attended the QMDC member meeting in mid-2009. Among the topics discussed was Endangered regrowth vegetation policy options; click here for the draft policy options document. QMDC's mining impact policy options were also discussed, click here for the draft document. Both these documents remain open for comment.
