Walking with Wildflowers, Stanthorpe

Stanthorpe’s Rare Wildflower Consortium will host a series of
Wildflower Walks this Spring. The walks are open to anyone interested
in learning more about the unique local flora of the Granite Belt. Four
walks will be held between August and November, 2008. All walks start
at 9:30am and aim to finish by 12:30pm. For further information, please

Bursaries available to attend the Queensland Landcare Conference
Private land managers in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin are eligible to receive one of eight bursaries from QMDC to attend the Queensland Landcare Conference (21-24 September, 2008). Bursaries will cover registration fees and $200 for travel and accommodation. Nominations close on 25 August. Download the nomination form.
Kids discover fun at the forum
Over 300 students from across southern Queensland converged on the Goondiwindi Cultural Centre last week for the annual Discovering Landcare Forum, organised by QMDC. Photos and stories from the Forum will be posted to our Discovering Landcare Forum page over the next few weeks.
Halting the decline of river health
Data from the Murray-Darling Basin Commission's State of the Rivers Audit, released last week, has found the Condamine-Balonne and Border Rivers catchments to be in moderate health.
However, QMDC has warned that this state may be harder to maintain into the future. Read more...
Saltbush planted to combat salinity
Over 300,000 saltbush seedlings have been planted over five days near Goondiwindi in an attempt to ease salinity risk in the Goondoola Basin.
Paul Southern planted the seedlings on his property, "Lyolia", between Goondiwindi and St. George recently as part of an Envirofund project with the Waroo-Balonne Landcare Group. Read more...
